If your building was constructed or refurbished before the year 2000 it may contain ACMs (Asbestos Containing Materials). Whilst blue and brown asbestos was banned in 1985, ACMs such as asbestos cement were used up until 1999.

 

A Risk Assessment is essential to help you comply with the requirements of the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2006. A Competent Person should always carry out your initial asbestos Risk Assessment. Our professional Surveyor is trained to MDHS 100 standard and can carry out this assessment on your behalf.

 

Our onsite survey will identify and record the hazards associated with each sample taken and our report comprises a Risk Assessment and asbestos management strategy.

 

The objectives of this service are to:

 

  • Identify the asbestos hazards which have the potential to cause injury or ill health

  • Identify who is at risk e.g. employees, visitors, contractors

  • Identify what measures are already in place to reduce the asbestos risk to an acceptable level

  • Determine what additional precautions need to be taken

  • Provide a log for any ACMs present in your building

  • Provide a strategy for the management of any ACMs

The stages of our service include:

 

  • Defining the initial scope of the assessment project

  • Identifying the activities/premises which are to be assessed

  • Scheduling a Surveyor to visit the premises to conduct the assessment (Asbestos Management Survey – sampling survey)

  • Identifying and recording the hazards associated with each sample taken and/or inspection

  • Providing a comprehensive report containing a Risk Assessment and asbestos management plan

  • Providing UKAS accredited laboratory certification on any samples taken
